Sri Lanka

Entered with care.

4 hotels. Colombo and Kandy. Since 2019.

Sri Lanka is our most recent market entry — a deliberate move into a destination with extraordinary leisure potential and a hotel stock that needs professional management to capitalise on recovering international demand.

Presence

On the ground today

Sri Lanka's tourism sector is recovering strongly after several years of disruption. International arrivals are returning to pre-crisis levels, and the government has made hotel infrastructure investment a priority. For operators who remained in the market through the difficult period, the relationship capital built with local partners and regulators is now a significant competitive advantage.

Our entry into Sri Lanka was led by the Ananda Spa concept — wellness tourism is one of the fastest-growing segments in the market — and the Compass Hotels brand for upscale full-service properties. The Colombo–Kandy axis is our primary focus, serving both inbound leisure travellers on the cultural circuit and corporate guests in the capital.

We see Sri Lanka as a multi-decade opportunity and are actively seeking additional management contracts and investment partnerships in the market.

Market view

The 2026 outlook

Sri Lanka's recovery trajectory is one of the most compelling stories in Asian hospitality. After the economic crisis of 2022, operators who stayed and maintained local relationships are now positioned to capture a demand recovery that is running ahead of expectations. Inbound arrivals in 2025 grew by over 30%, and the 2026 outlook for the leisure and wellness segment is strongly positive.

The opportunity for hotel owners is to meet recovering demand with improved product quality and international distribution reach — precisely the proposition that Compass brings. Properties affiliated with our brands gain access to GDS connectivity, OTA rate parity management, and the Ananda Spa brand equity that resonates with the wellness-motivated traveller.
