Sri Lanka's Hotel Market in 2026: What Owners Need to Know

January 20265 min readPrabhat Lal, CEO

International arrivals to Sri Lanka crossed two million in 2025 — above 2018 pre-crisis levels for the first time. The recovery has been driven by European leisure travel, the Indian outbound market, and a growing MICE segment centred on Colombo.

The hotel market is sharply polarised. Well-managed assets with brand recognition and OTA presence are running above 70% occupancy and achieving ADR growth.

For owners considering Sri Lanka, there are two distinct entry points: the leisure corridor (Galle, Mirissa, Tangalle) and the Colombo business district.

Ananda Spa launched its first Sri Lanka concept in Colombo in 2019. The concept has validated that wellness is a differentiator that drives ADR premium and repeat visits.

Compass entered Sri Lanka through a management contract with zero capital deployed. For owners with the asset and local market knowledge, we provide the operational infrastructure and distribution platform.
